1. About These Terms

These website terms and conditions govern your access to and use of The Pivot Conference website.

By using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using the website.

These terms apply only to use of the website. Ticket purchases, event admission, refunds, transfers, postponement and cancellation are governed by our separate Ticket Terms and Conditions.

3. Other Terms That Apply

The following documents also apply where relevant:

If there is a conflict between these website terms and the Ticket Terms and Conditions concerning a ticket or event booking, the Ticket Terms and Conditions will take priority for that issue.

4. Access to the Website

We provide access to the website on a temporary basis. We may update, suspend, withdraw or restrict all or part of the website where reasonably necessary for maintenance, security, operational, legal or business reasons.

We do not guarantee that the website, or any content on it, will always be available, uninterrupted or free from errors. We will try to minimise disruption where reasonably possible.

You are responsible for arranging the equipment, software and internet connection needed to access the website. You are also responsible for ensuring that anyone who accesses the website through your connection understands and complies with these terms.

5. Changes to the Website and These Terms

We may change the website, its content and these terms from time to time.

The version published on this page will apply from the stated “last updated” date. Please review this page periodically.

Where a change affects an existing ticket purchase or another concluded contract, it will not retrospectively remove rights already acquired under that contract or under applicable law.

6. Permitted Use

You may use the website for lawful personal or business purposes connected with learning about The Pivot Conference, purchasing tickets through the authorised ticketing platform, submitting an enquiry or application, and engaging with our published content.

You may print or download reasonable extracts for your own non-commercial reference, provided that you do not alter the material, remove ownership notices or present the content as your own.

Any broader reproduction, publication, distribution, commercial use or creation of derivative materials requires our prior written permission or the permission of the relevant rights holder.

7. Prohibited Use

You must not use the website.

We may block or restrict access where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached or the website, its users or our organisation may be at risk.

8. Website Information

We take reasonable care when preparing website content, but event information can change and some content may become incomplete or out of date.

Dates, times, venue details, speakers, moderators, session titles, schedules, sponsors, partners, ticket availability and supporting activities may be updated. The latest confirmed information will be published on the website, the authorised Eventbrite listing or communicated directly to affected ticket holders.

You should check the relevant page and any booking communications before relying on event information or making travel and accommodation arrangements.

Nothing on the website is intended to be a binding promise unless it is expressly stated as part of a ticket offer, written agreement or other contract.

9. Conference Content and Outcomes

Website articles, speaker information, session descriptions, downloads, recordings and other conference content are provided for general information, education and discussion.

They are not a substitute for legal, financial, medical, employment, tax, investment or other professional advice tailored to your circumstances.

Attendance at The Pivot Conference, use of the website or participation in a session does not guarantee employment, promotion, funding, investment, contracts, introductions, partnerships, revenue, business growth or any other particular outcome.

Views expressed by a speaker, contributor, sponsor, partner or attendee are their own unless we expressly state otherwise. Their participation does not necessarily mean that we endorse every statement, product, service or organisation associated with them.

10. Tickets and Eventbrite

Tickets are purchased and processed through Eventbrite.

When you follow an Eventbrite link or use an Eventbrite booking feature, your use of that platform is also subject to Eventbrite’s own terms, privacy information and technical processes.

The contract for admission to The Pivot Conference is governed by our Ticket Terms and Conditions, together with the ticket information displayed before purchase.

Ticket prices, taxes, mandatory fees and the total amount payable should be displayed before an order is completed. Questions about a Pivot Conference ticket may be sent to info@thepivotconference.com.

11. Applications, Enquiries and Submissions

The website may allow you to submit an enquiry, speaker application, sponsorship enquiry, partnership proposal, media request, accessibility request, job or supplier information, feedback or other material.

You must ensure that information you submit is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to provide it.

Submitting an application, proposal or enquiry does not guarantee selection, acceptance, a response by a particular date, a speaking opportunity, sponsorship, partnership, employment, media access or any other commercial relationship.

Unless separate confidentiality terms have been agreed in writing, you should not submit confidential business information, trade secrets or material belonging to another person that you are not authorised to share.

We will use personal information submitted through the website as explained in our Privacy Policy.

12. Rights in Material You Submit

You retain ownership of material you submit where you own the relevant rights.

By submitting material for consideration, publication or event delivery, you give us non-exclusive permission to receive, store, review, internally share and use it to administer and assess the relevant enquiry, application, proposal or relationship.

If material is selected for publication, promotion, a speaker profile, a programme, a presentation or another public use, we may agree further usage details with you. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of your material to us.

You must not submit content that infringes another person’s rights or that is unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, threatening, obscene, deceptive or malicious. We may remove or decline material that we reasonably believe creates legal, safety, operational or reputational risk.

13. Intellectual Property

The website and its content—including The Pivot Conference name and branding, design, layout, text, graphics, photographs, video, audio, downloads, presentation materials and software—may be protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual-property rights.

Those rights belong to us or are used with permission from the relevant owner.

Except for the limited use permitted by these terms or by law, you may not copy, reproduce, modify, republish, distribute, sell, license, frame, mirror, commercially exploit or create derivative works from website content without prior written permission.

You may not use our branding in a way that suggests an endorsement, partnership, sponsorship or official relationship that has not been agreed in writing.

14. Third-Party Links and Services

The website may link to Eventbrite, Imperial College London, social media platforms, video services, map providers, speakers, sponsors, partners and other external websites or services.

Links are provided for convenience or context. Unless we expressly state otherwise, we do not control external websites and are not responsible for their availability, security, content, accuracy, accessibility, privacy practices or terms.

A link does not automatically mean that we endorse the linked organisation, product, service or all content available through that service. You should review the external provider’s own terms and privacy information before using it.

15. Linking to Our Website

You may link to a publicly available page on our website in a way that is fair, lawful and does not damage our reputation or mislead users.

You must not:

We may ask you to remove a link where we reasonably believe it breaches these conditions.

16. Website Security, Viruses and Misuse

We use reasonable measures intended to protect the website, but we do not guarantee that it will be completely secure or free from bugs, malware or other harmful components.

You are responsible for using appropriate security software and device protections.

You must not knowingly introduce harmful code, attempt unauthorised access, conduct denial-of-service activity, probe security weaknesses without written authorisation or attack the website or connected systems.

We may report suspected criminal or malicious activity to relevant service providers or authorities and may cooperate with a lawful investigation.

17. Privacy and Cookies

We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

The website uses cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. Non-essential cookies will be controlled through the cookie-consent mechanism, where consent is required.

You should not submit another person’s personal information unless you are authorised to do so and have provided them with any relevant privacy information.

18. Accessibility

We aim to make the website and event information accessible to as many people as reasonably possible.

If you experience difficulty accessing website content or need information in a different format, contact info@thepivotconference.com. We will consider reasonable requests and try to provide an appropriate alternative where practicable.

Event accessibility and reasonable-adjustment requests are addressed separately in our Ticket Terms, Accessibility Statement and event communications.

19. Our Responsibility to Consumers

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

If you are a consumer, we are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.

We do not exclude or limit any statutory consumer rights.

We are not responsible under these website terms for ticket cancellation, postponement, refunds or admission matters, which are dealt with in the separate Ticket Terms and Conditions.

20. Our Responsibility to Business Users

If you use the website wholly or mainly for business purposes, then, subject to liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded,

Nothing in this section excludes liability where exclusion would be unlawful or unreasonable under applicable law.

21. Breach of These Terms

If you breach these terms, we may take reasonable action, including the following:

Any action will be proportionate to the circumstances and will not remove rights that you have under a separate ticket contract or applicable law unless those rights are lawfully affected by the breach.

22. Events Outside Our Reasonable Control

We are not responsible for website delay, interruption or failure caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control, such as failures of internet, hosting, electricity or communications services; cyber incidents; third-party platform outages; emergency maintenance; natural events; government action; or other events that we could not reasonably prevent.

This section does not remove any remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.

23. Severability and No Waiver

If a court or competent authority finds that part of these terms is invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.

If we do not enforce a provision immediately, that does not mean that we waive the provision or lose the right to enforce it later.

24. No Third-Party Rights

Unless these terms expressly state otherwise, a person who is not a party to these terms does not have a right to enforce them.

This does not affect any right or remedy that exists independently under applicable law.

25. Governing Law and Courts

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer resident in another part of the United Kingdom, you may also benefit from mandatory protections available where you live and may be entitled to bring proceedings in your local courts.

If you use the website for business purposes, the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these website terms, unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.
